Welcome to our Counselling and Psychotherapy Service

LIWC offers culturally sensitive Counselling and Psychotherapy for Irish women and Women of Irish descent.

Counselling can help people understand the underlying causes of a wide range of difficulties.  These difficulties  might sometimes be linked to a particular experience, for example  a traumatic event from childhood, or the recent break up of a relationship.

Other reasons for seeking counselling or psychotherapy may seem more difficult to define,  for example understanding the origins of depression or low self-esteem. Within counselling you can begin to look at old patterns of behaviour that can affect current relationships and find positive ways to change these overused patterns.

E
ach of our counsellors is herself a woman of Irish descent and has experience of working  therapeutically with a full range of issues including eating-related problems, childhood sexual abuse, self-harm and domestic violence.

We welcome self-referrals or referrals from NHS or other statutory and non-statutory agencies. If you are interested in counselling please contact us for an application form (tel 020 7249 7318 or email info@liwc.co.uk)

Costs are variable, depending on your circumstances.

All sessions are held in our women's only centre at
59 Stoke Newington Church Street, N16 0AR.

We are pleased to be able to offer this service through working in partnership with icap (immigrant counselling and psychotherapy www.icap.org.uk).
Unfortunately we are not able to offer work placements to counselling students.
